Governance & Accountability

Responsible to
the scholars we serve.

The SON Foundation is committed to working carefully, protecting scholars, and being accountable to families, schools, mentors, donors, and community supporters.

01

Our Mission

The Foundation exists to help academically promising young people in Nigerian public secondary schools move forward. Through the Future Leaders Scholars Program, it provides Educational Support, Mentorship, Leadership Development, School Impact Projects, and practical preparation for life after secondary school.

02

Board of Trustees

The Foundation is governed by three trustees, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, responsible for protecting its mission, values, and long-term direction.

  • AbdulAfeez OladeindeTrustee and Chairman
  • Damilola AdebayoTrustee
  • Rukayat HassanTrustee

Under the Foundation’s constitution there shall be not fewer than two and not more than fifteen trustees, and a trustee may hold office for five years.

03

Programme Governance

The Future Leaders Scholars Program has written guidance for scholar selection, mentor conduct, safeguarding, data privacy, escalation, and annual review. These documents help adults work consistently and are available for appropriate review by schools, parents, partners, and approved stakeholders.

04

Registration and accountability

The Foundation is registered in Nigeria as Incorporated Trustees, registration number IT 9707713, with active status from 24 July 2026. Its financial year ends on 31 December.

The Foundation records major decisions, keeps approved documents under version control, and separates public, Restricted, and Confidential information. Draft material does not override an approved document.

05

Safeguarding

The welfare of scholars is the Foundation’s highest priority. Adults who work with scholars follow a code of conduct, use approved communication channels, observe a two-adult rule in Programme settings, and escalate concerns through defined reporting steps. Mentors, facilitators, and school liaisons are trained before engaging with scholars.
